10 points to prepare before an event opens to the public

The quality of the arrangement depends on the decisions taken before the arrival of the first guest.

Checklist

The security plan must be shared with the organiser, the site manager and the host teams. Each area and every decision must have a clearly identified owner.

  1. Local capacity and flow estimation.
  2. Entrances, exits and evacuation routes.
  3. Accreditation, invitations and access control.
  4. VIP, technical, logistical and reserved areas.
  5. Waiting lines and separation of movements.
  6. Positions, schedules, rotations and managers.
  7. Radios, phones and passwords are operational.
  8. Coordination with emergency and competent authorities.
  9. Incident procedure, escalation and traceability.
  10. Briefing before opening and debriefing after closing.

The final security arrangement must remain proportionate to the context, use, identified risks and site rules.
